TL;DR
Systems Security Engineer (SSE), Journeyman (Cybersecurity): Providing systems security engineering and cybersecurity authorization support for the Unmanned Carrier Aviation Program Office with an accent on security requirements, cyber survivability, and certification activities. Focus on leading critical function and Critical Program Information assessments, defining enclave boundary protections, tracing cyber requirements, and coordinating risk mitigation across IPT stakeholders.

Location: Pax River, Maryland, United States; full-time onsite support at Patuxent River Naval Air Station

Salary: $130,000–$145,000 per year

What you will do

  • Provide systems security engineering support to the Unmanned Carrier Aviation Program Office and its cyber leads.
  • Lead product-specific systems security engineering and oversee cybersecurity activities across the Integrated Product Team.
  • Define, derive, and trace system security requirements and contribute to specifications, statements of work, data item descriptions, and contract deliverables.
  • Conduct critical function analysis, identify Mission Essential Functions, lead Critical Program Information assessments, and support Cyber Survivability Risk Assessments and CYBERSAFE.
  • Lead enclave and boundary protection requirements, system security certification and registration activities, and cybersecurity working groups.
  • Coordinate stakeholders, contractors, risk managers, and subject matter experts while tracking authorization, findings, changes, actions, and requests for information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field from an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated experience in an engineering area; at least seven years of cyber-related experience in a DoD environment is highly desired.
  • Meet DoD 8570.01-M/8140 IAT Level I or II requirements, such as Security+ CE.
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility to complete a government security investigation are required.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance is required.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, communication, customer relations, Microsoft Office, prioritization, and teamwork skills.

Nice to have

  • Program office experience.
  • Aviation engineering experience.
