TL;DR
Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) (Cybersecurity) (DoD systems and cybersecurity): Designing and integrating secure information assurance architectures for computing, network, and enclave environments with an accent on NIST RMF, vulnerability management, security testing, and continuous monitoring. Focus on hardening Windows and Linux systems, automating remediation with PowerShell, Python, and Bash, and supporting incident response, accreditation, and secure infrastructure upgrades.

Location: On-site at 540 National Business Parkway, Annapolis Junction, Maryland, United States. Minimal travel and standard working hours.

Basic compensation: $110,000–$140,000 annually; the stated range applies to Washington, DC only. Additional compensation may include bonuses, incentives, sign-on payments, or relocation benefits.

What you will do

  • Design, develop, implement, and integrate secure DoD information assurance architectures, systems, and system components.
  • Apply NIST RMF, DoD STIGs, CIS benchmarks, FedRAMP, Common Criteria, and organizational security policies across the system development lifecycle.
  • Manage vulnerability identification and remediation using Tenable Nessus, ACAS, Qualys, and secure configuration baselines.
  • Integrate security controls into Windows and Linux servers, cloud and virtualization platforms, Kubernetes, and containerized applications.
  • Monitor cyber events using Splunk Enterprise, analyze logs and endpoint telemetry, and support incident response and forensic investigations.
  • Develop automation scripts, technical documentation, architecture diagrams, SOPs, risk reports, and accreditation materials.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI is required.
  • DoD 8570.1-M/8140 IAT Level III certification is required, such as SecurityX (CASP), GCIH, CISA, or CISSP.
  • Strong networking, firewall, VPN, AWS/Azure cloud security, Kubernetes, and DevSecOps experience.
  • Deep knowledge of NIST SP 800-161, NIST RMF, FedRAMP, Common Criteria, ATO package development, and STIG-based compliance.
  • Hands-on experience with Tenable Nessus, CyberArk, Trellix, Splunk Enterprise, VMware vSphere, GitLab, Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and Ubuntu Linux.
  • Experience with PowerShell, Python, Bash, Ansible, project leadership, mentoring junior ISSEs, and presenting technical briefings to leadership.
