Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) (Cybersecurity)

Location: On-site in Chantilly, Virginia, United States. Travel is minimal and working hours are standard.

Basic compensation: $168,100–$205,400 annually for the Virginia area. Additional compensation may include bonuses, incentives, sign-on bonuses, or relocation benefits.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and integrate cybersecurity controls across network, computing, virtualization, cloud, and enclave environments.
• Lead and support Assessment & Authorization activities, including Risk Management Framework artifacts, accreditation documentation, security plans, and standard operating procedures.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments, compliance reviews, and security scans, and coordinate remediation with system administrators and developers.
• Review system architectures, network designs, and technical implementations to identify risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Maintain secure baselines, configuration management controls, continuous monitoring activities, and approved change management processes with ISSMs, system owners, and engineering teams.
• Monitor, analyze, and respond to cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and potential intrusion activity while maintaining operational and authorization documentation.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with a Polygraph required.
• Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, information systems, computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, plus 8+ years of relevant experience; additional experience may substitute for a degree.
• Prior experience as an Information Systems Security Engineer.
• Experience with Assessment & Authorization, the Risk Management Framework, cybersecurity compliance, vulnerability assessments, security reviews, remediation, and continuous monitoring.
• Strong understanding of computer architecture, networking, operating systems, and network security principles.
• Ability to develop, review, and maintain cybersecurity documentation and accreditation artifacts.

Nice to have

• Experience with multi-enclave architectures and differing classification requirements.
• CISSP, CASP+, Security+, GSLC, or an equivalent professional cybersecurity certification.
• Experience with enterprise vulnerability management and configuration management programs.
• Experience working with ISSMs, network engineers, and system administrators to resolve cybersecurity findings.
