Principal Cybersecurity Engineer (US Federal)

Location: Reston, Virginia, USA; may require onsite work at client locations in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. Flexible work requires spending at least 50% of each quarter in the office or in the field.

Annual base salary: $184,800–$277,200 USD for the primary location. Additional US locations: $167,200–$300,000 USD.

What you will do

• Build and operate cybersecurity capabilities for an air-gapped classified cloud environment supporting US Government customers.
• Perform vulnerability management, incident response, threat hunting, and threat detection.
• Deploy, monitor, and manage systems in AWS or Microsoft Top Secret clouds.
• Build and maintain investigation and response tools, including SIEM and SOAR solutions.
• Coordinate with customers and Cyber Defense teams to maintain consistency and develop security best practices.
• Lead multiple projects and priorities while managing operational responsibilities.

Requirements

• United States citizenship is required for personnel working on applicable US Federal Government contracts.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance is required; TS/SCI with CI Poly is preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in technical security consultancy, security operations, incident response, vulnerability management, threat detection, or threat hunting.
• 2+ years of hands-on technical leadership experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Security, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong knowledge of platform, application, cloud, network, and container security, adversary TTPs, vulnerability prioritization, SIEM, SOAR, and hunting techniques.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree.
• DoD 8570/8140 compliance with at least IAT Level II certification.
• Current Computing Environment credential and an approved specialty certification such as CompTIA CySA+, GICSP, or CASP+.
• Active TS/SCI with CI Poly clearance.
