System Safety Engineer (Space Defense)

Salary: $113,100–$141,300 annually

What you will do

• Evaluate environmental, safety, and occupational health risks identified by government, contractor, and other stakeholders.
• Prepare and update government system safety documentation and safety risk assessments.
• Review contractor hazard analyses, mitigation strategies, and safety assessments, and advise the government system safety team.
• Prepare PESHE, SDAR/EOLP, and environmental analysis documentation for space vehicles and ground systems.
• Support System Safety elements of Space Flight Worthiness certification.
• Coordinate technical discussions and deliverables with contractors, government civilians, and U.S. Space Force personnel.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of systems engineering experience.
• At least 1 year of Systems Safety engineering experience, including military standards, regulations, practices, techniques, and procedures.
• Ability to coordinate with numerous stakeholders and customers in a dynamic team environment.
• Strong written, verbal, and public-speaking communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice to have

• Technical bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or computer science.
• INCOSE ESEP or CSEP certification.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, MILSATCOM, DoD clients, or government space systems programs.
• Experience on Systems Engineering and Integration contracts.
• Active Secret clearance or higher.
