TL;DR
Station Chief Systems Engineer (Aerospace): Leading end-to-end systems engineering for Axiom Station, from concept definition and requirements management through architecture, integration, verification, validation, operations, and disposal with an accent on human spaceflight systems and lifecycle execution. Focus on integrating station modules and subsystems, managing interfaces, performance, configuration, data, and risks, and closing verification activities across a complex orbital infrastructure program.

Location: Houston, United States. The role is generally office-based and may involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

What you will do

  • Lead end-to-end systems engineering implementation for major elements of Axiom Station across the full lifecycle.
  • Define station concepts, architectures, functional analyses, and product breakdown structures.
  • Develop, validate, and manage technical requirements and integrated system and subsystem performance assessments.
  • Lead internal and external integration, interface definition and control, risk reduction, and verification and validation.
  • Define and oversee configuration, data, risk, variance, and waiver management processes.
  • Communicate project progress, status, and potential issues to stakeholders and senior leadership while maintaining agile project management practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, electrical, mechanical, or a related engineering discipline; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • 15+ years of systems engineering experience across concepts, requirements, design support, integration, verification, and validation.
  • Experience managing full lifecycle activities from concept and planning through execution and close-out.
  • Experience with spaceflight programs, payloads, spacecraft, or space vehicles; NASA human spaceflight experience is preferred.
  • Strong writing, presentation, organization, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Additional export-control screening may be required for access to technical data or technology subject to NASA regulations, ITAR, or EAR; meeting these requirements is a condition of employment.

Nice to have

  • Experience in startup organizations.
  • INCOSE CSEP certification.
