High School ELA Teacher (English Language Arts)

Salary: $56,650–$88,500 per year, depending on experience and certification status.

What you will do

• Deliver rigorous, engaging English Language Arts instruction that develops reading, writing, and critical-thinking skills.
• Create unit and daily lesson plans using provided curricula and resources.
• Build an affirming, inclusive, safe, organized, and academically focused classroom environment.
• Analyze student work and academic data to adapt lessons and improve instructional practice.
• Communicate with families about student growth, maintain accurate records, and provide required accommodations.
• Collaborate with grade-level colleagues, instructional coaches, school leadership, and the wider school community.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of full-time ELA teaching experience, preferably in an urban setting.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Pennsylvania State certification Level I or II strongly preferred.
• Uncertified candidates must enroll in a Pennsylvania-approved certification program within one year of hire and submit transcripts upon hire.
• Strong classroom management skills and experience supporting student growth in an inclusive learning environment.
• Required Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Child Abuse, and Cogent Federal Fingerprinting clearances before the start date.

Nice to have

• Experience teaching ELA in an urban school setting.
• Pennsylvania teaching certification.
