What you will do

• Teach World History, US History, American Government, and Economics in preparation for AP and collegiate-level coursework.
• Facilitate student-led discussions, peer debate, and synthesis of historical arguments.
• Develop students’ skills in sourcing, textual analysis, argumentation, corroboration, inquiry, and historiography.
• Create an inclusive classroom where students express evidence-based opinions and perspectives.
• Analyze student work and assessment trends weekly with the principal or instructional coach and differentiate instruction.
• Build relationships with students and families while collaborating with the History department and grade-level teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university before employment begins.
• Academic expertise in Education, History, Geography, Political Science, Criminal Justice, Social Sciences, or the Humanities.
• Commitment to students’ social-emotional and academic development.
• Ability to collaborate, learn independently, and implement feedback.
• Experience or demonstrated interest in supporting K–12 students in urban schools and communities; 1–2 years of experience is preferred.
• Eligibility for New Jersey teacher certification is required; certification must be obtained within a reasonable period after starting employment.
