Outreach and Admissions Counselor (Youth Workforce Development): Recruiting eligible youth for Job Corps programs, conducting community outreach and applicant orientations, and managing admissions files with an accent on youth development, applicant support, and compliance. Location: Dayton, Ohio, USA; hybrid within Houston

Salary: Up to $45,711.85 per year

What you will do

  • Recruit eligible youth for the Job Corps program through community outreach, agencies, American Job Centers, and public events.
  • Conduct applicant orientations and interviews, including parent interviews for minors.
  • Process applicant files through data entry, document scanning, electronic filing, and quality assurance checks.
  • Coordinate with centers on applicant travel arrangements and provide referrals and support services.
  • Assess graduate and former trainee placement readiness and support timely placement and retention.
  • Develop job opportunities through direct contact with employers, One-Stops, JTPA, and state employment agencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, communications, or a closely related field; or an associate’s degree in one of these fields plus two years of related experience.
  • Four years of experience working with youth ages 16–24, including experience with diverse youth.
  • Strong public speaking, verbal and written communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Computer literacy, including internet, email, WordPerfect, or Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to work some evening hours, periodic weekends, and travel periodically.
  • Valid driver’s license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
