What you will do

  • Recruit eligible youth for the Job Corps program through community outreach, agency partnerships, American Job Centers, and public events.
  • Conduct applicant orientations and interviews, including parent interviews for minors.
  • Manage applicant files, including data entry, document scanning, and quality assurance checks.
  • Coordinate applicant travel arrangements with program centers.
  • Assess graduates' and former enrollees' placement readiness and provide referrals and support services.
  • Support timely placement and retention in quality jobs, the military, or further education and training, including job development with employers and employment agencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, communications, or a closely related field; or an associate's degree in one of these fields plus two years of related experience.
  • Four years of experience working with youth ages 16–24, including experience with diverse youth.
  • Above-average public speaking, verbal and written communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Computer literacy, including internet, email, WordPerfect, or Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to work some evening hours, periodic weekends, and travel periodically.
  • Valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
