Senior FW Engineer - Pathfinding (SSD)

Location: Sacramento, California, USA; full-time on-site role

Salary: $139,520–$223,300 per year, plus eligibility for RSU, RCU, and cash bonus programs.

What you will do

• Develop embedded software for constrained timing and memory environments, creating proof-of-concept prototypes for new storage innovations.
• Design reusable firmware, debug and root-cause issues, and validate firmware architectures and implementations.
• Develop firmware algorithms for FTL and mapping strategies, garbage collection, workload optimization, quality of service, and data placement.
• Perform unit and integration testing while collaborating with architects and IP leads on implementation details and milestones.
• Create evaluation metrics, collect performance data, and analyze trade-offs between technical approaches.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software or firmware development, integration, and validation experience in embedded systems.
• Strong programming experience in C/C++.
• Experience developing embedded firmware for a real-time operating system and working with hardware-software interactions.
• Experience with compilers, debuggers, emulators, and firmware development toolchains.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to work full-time in Sacramento, California, USA.

Nice to have

• Python and Linux scripting for data parsing, automation, and processing.
• Enterprise fabric and storage protocols such as PCIe, NVMe, Ethernet, Fibre Channel, or InfiniBand.
• Git, code review systems, unit testing, and code coverage practices.
• Storage architecture, operating systems, networking, AI, computing, accelerators, digital signal processing, or memory technologies.
• Experience with project planning, estimation, risk management, and customer requirements assessment.
