Senior Buyer (Procurement)

Location: West Burton, Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom; full-time onsite role

Salary: £44,290 per year plus benefits, including an outstanding pension.

What you will do

• Set commercial and sourcing strategies for major programmes, high-value portfolios, and business-critical categories.
• Direct procurement routes, commercial models, risk allocation, and contracting approaches for complex procurements.
• Support negotiations and own commercial oversight for infrastructure, construction, supplier alliance, framework, and professional services contracts.
• Manage cost control, forecasting, change management, claims, performance regimes, incentives, and commercial remedies.
• Provide senior commercial counsel to executive leadership, programme sponsors, project and engineering leaders, Finance, Legal, and Assurance functions.
• Set governance standards, lead assurance and audit responses, guide commercial professionals, and build organisational capability.

Requirements

• Extensive senior commercial, procurement, and contract leadership experience in large, complex, or regulated environments.
• Experience leading major programmes or portfolios with high commercial risk and material financial impact.
• Deep applied expertise in public sector procurement legislation, including PA23, governance, and assurance.
• Senior-level decision-making, negotiation, judgement, leadership, and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Studying towards or willing to work towards MCIPS or another recognised commercial accreditation.
• Completion of BPSS, including DBS criminal-record checks, is required. SC Clearance may be required in the future.

Nice to have

• Chartered MCIPS or equivalent senior commercial accreditation.
• Experience shaping commercial policy and operating models.
• Advanced expertise in NEC and other complex contracting forms.
• Experience advising executive boards and senior governance bodies.
