TL;DR
Packaging Engineer - Throughput & MES (manufacturing systems and process improvement): Delivering sustainable throughput improvements across packaging and processing operations while owning site MES reliability, data integrity, and continuous improvement. Focus on eliminating bottlenecks, analyzing manufacturing losses, integrating equipment and systems, and leading targeted technical and capital projects through commissioning and start-up.

Location: Onsite at the Atlanta West manufacturing facility in Forest Park, Georgia, USA

Salary: $75,800–$141,700, $83,400–$155,900, or $90,900–$170,100 annually by labor-cost zone, plus eligibility for incentive plans

What you will do

  • Lead data-driven initiatives to increase packaging and processing throughput, remove bottlenecks, reduce manufacturing losses, and improve equipment and process capability.
  • Partner with Maintenance and Operations to investigate recurring failures, reliability issues, and performance losses.
  • Own the site Manufacturing Execution System (MES), coordinating issue resolution, data integrity, reporting, material transactions, equipment interfaces, and operator workflows.
  • Collaborate with plant users, Engineering, Quality, Information Technology, vendors, and equipment suppliers on MES enhancements, testing, deployment, and support.
  • Lead or support technical and capital projects from scope development through system or equipment integration, commissioning, user acceptance, training, and start-up.
  • Maintain documentation, process maps, standard work, troubleshooting guidance, change controls, and contingency procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 3–5 years of engineering experience in manufacturing, industrial operations, manufacturing systems, automation, process improvement, maintenance, or a related technical environment.
  • Experience supporting, administering, implementing, or improving an MES or comparable manufacturing operations system.
  • Experience improving equipment, process, system, or manufacturing performance and analyzing manufacturing data to identify root causes and sustainable countermeasures.
  • Experience applying DMAIC, Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, RCFA, or another formal structured problem-solving methodology.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing safety, quality, environmental, cybersecurity, regulatory, change-management, documentation, troubleshooting, and cross-functional project leadership practices.

  • Experience with manufacturing data, equipment interfaces, system integration, testing, deployment, user acceptance, or user training.
