Plant Optimization Engineer

Location: Onsite at the corrugated box plant in Winter Haven, Florida, United States. Ability to work first, second, or third shift during production rotations and travel as necessary.

Salary: $83,000–$86,000 per year, plus an annual performance-based bonus.

What you will do

• Complete a two-year rotational training program across maintenance and production departments.
• Organize and implement process improvements, problem-elimination initiatives, and capital or expense projects.
• Optimize plant operations through scrap reduction, throughput improvement, downtime reduction, and asset-health initiatives.
• Develop and implement solutions for equipment, facilities, and manufacturing operations.
• Collaborate with plant leadership, operators, maintenance personnel, mentors, and other Plant Optimization Engineers.
• Attend program conferences and off-site technical training while developing a long-term career path within PCA.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering required before starting the position.
• 0–2 years of engineering experience, including internships and co-ops, preferably providing technical support in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Preferred engineering fields include chemical, mechanical, electrical, paper, industrial and systems, manufacturing engineering, or engineering technology.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and manufacturing systems is preferred.
• Strong communication, listening, evaluation, problem-solving, leadership, teamwork, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to learn quickly, develop alternative solutions, meet deadlines, work hands-on, and travel with valid air and car travel documents.

Nice to have

• At least one internship or co-op, especially in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or Statistical Process Control.
• Leadership experience or demonstrated leadership skills.
