Senior Clinical Consultant (Disability Insurance)

Location: Primarily work from home in Pennsylvania; occasional visits to a Guardian work location may be required.

Salary: $68,970–$113,310 per year, plus potential incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Provide clinical subject-matter expertise across short-term disability, long-term disability, and appeals claims.
• Train, mentor, coach, and develop Clinical Consultants while identifying knowledge gaps and supporting continuous learning.
• Work with the Clinical Team Manager to delegate and monitor workloads, manage caseloads and productivity, and reduce backlogs.
• Collaborate with claims partners and leadership to resolve conflicts, improve clinical claim accuracy, and establish effective procedures.
• Handle escalated customer inquiries and formal complaints, including serving as the first point of contact for suicide or mental health crisis calls.
• Facilitate training sessions and team meetings, share best practices, and provide leadership coverage when needed.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience with STD, LTD, or appeals claims, including at least 2 years of disability experience.
• At least 5 years of direct patient care experience.
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills, with sound independent judgment and decision-making ability.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, clinical, research, time-management, and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing business needs.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

Nice to have

• BSN degree.
• Certified Case Manager (CCM) credential.
