Principal Cloud Infrastructure Architect (AWS)

Location: Oak Brook, Illinois, United States; full-time onsite role with up to around 5% travel.

Salary: $129,700–$226,900 per year, plus benefits, 401(k) contribution, and eligibility for a short-term incentive plan.

What you will do

• Architect and build scalable, fault-tolerant, and secure AWS infrastructure using EKS, EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, VPC, Route 53, CloudWatch, and related services.
• Lead Infrastructure-as-Code implementation with Terraform, PowerShell, and automation frameworks for repeatable environment provisioning.
• Drive GitOps-based continuous delivery for Kubernetes workloads using Argo CD.
• Build observability capabilities with Datadog, including metrics, logs, traces, and synthetic monitoring.
• Own network security and management across AWS and hybrid environments, including capacity planning, cost optimization, and cloud strategy.
• Define and optimize reliability objectives, automate incident response, and collaborate with engineering, product, and security teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in site reliability engineering, software development, cloud infrastructure architecture, or related fields.
• Experience leading complex, large-scale projects and mentoring or supervising technical teams.
• Hands-on expertise with AWS cloud-native infrastructure, Terraform, PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar automation tools.
• Experience implementing Kubernetes and GitOps workflows with Argo CD or an equivalent tool.
• Ability to work onsite in Oak Brook, Illinois, United States.

Nice to have

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or Kubernetes Administrator certification.
• Master’s degree in a related technical discipline.
• Experience with Datadog or comparable observability platforms.
• Advanced knowledge of network security, VPC design, firewall management, and secure connectivity.
• Experience with global and distributed cloud-based IoT platforms and devices.
