Principal Cloud Engineer (AWS/GCP)

Location: USA.VA.Reston; may require onsite work at client locations in the DC, MD, and VA area. Flex Work requires at least 50% of each quarter in the office or in the field.

Annual base salary: $191,500–$287,300 USD for the primary location; additional US locations: $173,300–$309,600 USD.

What you will do

• Develop cloud adoption strategy and design secure, scalable, reliable public-cloud architectures.
• Lead migration of on-premises infrastructure and applications to AWS or GCP.
• Automate cloud resource provisioning and deployment processes using infrastructure as code.
• Establish cloud governance, security, compliance, performance, and cost-optimization practices.
• Guide and mentor cloud engineers and lead collaboration with application teams, cloud providers, and vendors.

Requirements

• US citizenship is required because the role supports US Federal Government contracts.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance is required; TS/SCI with CI Poly is preferred.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience with AWS or GCP, Ruby, Go, or Python, and Terraform or Ansible.
• At least 10 years of software engineering experience and 7 years of Linux experience.
• Experience with CI/CD, Git, ArgoCD, RESTful services, distributed systems, microservices, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience designing public-cloud solutions for web-scale scalability and reliability and leading enterprise cloud transformations.

Nice to have

• DoD 8570/8140 compliance with at least IAT Level II certification, a current Computing Environment credential, and an approved specialty certification such as CompTIA CySA+, GICSP, or CASP+.
• An active TS/SCI with CI Poly security clearance.
• Experience with CloudFormation and additional public-cloud architecture methodologies.
