Supplier Quality Engineer (Injection Molding & Tooling) - On site

What you will do

• Manage supplier quality for plastic injection-molded components from development through mass production.
• Review and approve mold designs with Engineering, covering manufacturability, gates, runners, cooling, venting, ejection, shrinkage, and warpage.
• Evaluate and validate injection molding processes, process controls, parameters, process windows, and cycle optimization.
• Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for defects including sink marks, warpage, short shots, flash, burn marks, cracks, and breakage.
• Assess resin selection and conduct supplier audits focused on molding capability, tooling condition, and quality systems.
• Approve supplier PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, and SPC data while driving improvements in yield, variation, and process stability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of supplier quality or process engineering experience focused on injection molding.
• Proven experience reviewing and approving tooling designs and process parameters with suppliers.
• Experience working with external suppliers or contract manufacturers and willingness to travel to supplier sites.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and reporting skills; experience with 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, and DOE.
• Knowledge of quality standards, high-volume manufacturing, molding machines, resin materials, and mold-flow simulation tools such as Moldflow and Moldex3D.
