Structural (Bridge) Director

Location: Hybrid position in Columbia, Rock Hill, or Charleston, South Carolina; consideration may be given to other South Carolina locations for highly qualified candidates.

Compensation: $175,234.85–$194,705.39 per year

What you will do

• Manage projects involving bridge and structural design, maintenance inspections, rehabilitation, and repair.
• Perform and lead structural analysis, design, modeling, calculations, load rating, quantification, and seismic analysis.
• Support or lead structural design for transportation projects and serve as project manager or bridge design task lead.
• Sign and seal bridge and roadway structure plans as Engineer of Record.
• Develop budgets, schedules, proposals, client service plans, and project delivery plans with senior managers and discipline leads.
• Grow and manage the South Carolina Bridge Group, mentor junior staff, maintain client relationships, and support business development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; a master’s degree is preferred.
• At least 10 years of progressive structural engineering design experience, including extensive highway structure experience in South Carolina.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in South Carolina required.
• South Carolina highway structure experience, seismic analysis, and Alternative Delivery experience required.
• Strong structural analysis, load rating, design, project management, planning, coordination, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency in MicroStation required; OpenBridge experience is a plus.

Nice to have

• SCDOT, NCDOT, GDOT, or rail experience.
• NBIS certification.
• Bridge maintenance inspection and rehabilitation or repair expertise.
• OpenBridge proficiency.
