TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineer III (Industrial Manufacturing): Improving production operations and manufacturing processes for engineered-to-order modular systems with an accent on lean manufacturing, labor estimation, CAPEX projects, and manufacturability. Focus on analyzing productivity, quality, safety, material flow, and cost; implementing process improvements; and leading equipment, layout, and cross-functional engineering initiatives.

Location: Houston, TX; onsite work in a manufacturing facility and shop environment

What you will do

  • Analyze production data to improve productivity, material flow, safety, quality, and cost.
  • Lead Lean initiatives including standardized work instructions, value stream mapping, Kaizen, and 5S.
  • Develop labor estimates, cost models, time studies, and savings-tracking processes.
  • Manage multiple CAPEX projects from scope definition and budgeting through equipment implementation and handover to operations.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with engineering, production, and estimating teams to improve manufacturability and eliminate non-value-added activities.
  • Design production tools, equipment, work-cell layouts, and process improvements for greater labor efficiency.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer, Operations Engineer, Process Engineer, or in a related role within heavy or industrial manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD, with strong blueprint-reading and P&ID interpretation skills.
  • Experience with make-to-order or engineer-to-order environments, fabrication, welding, assembly, fixtures, and jigs.
  • Experience implementing ERP systems and Lean processes, leading CAPEX projects, maintaining budgets, and delivering equipment to operations.
  • Ability to work onsite in a manufacturing facility, stand for up to 10 hours per day and up to 6 days per week, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

Nice to have

  • Lean or Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
  • Master's degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
  • Welding and NDE experience and training.
