Software Engineer

Location: Remote in the United States for candidates authorized to work in the U.S.; hiring is currently available across most U.S. states. The role works on Eastern Time, and relocation to New York City is supported. Regular in-person collaboration is preferred within commuting distance of the Manhattan office.

Salary: $145,000–$187,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Contribute to infrastructure that scales across applications of different sizes and complexity.
• Improve performance and reliability across backend services, efficiency, capacity management, and data-tier systems.
• Support observability initiatives, implement SLOs, and surface performance characteristics to end users.
• Build and iterate on backbone services supporting billions of requests and arbitrary end-user applications.
• Contribute to the workflow engine, data tier, and high-volume ingest, export, and workflow capabilities.
• Participate in triage and on-call processes to diagnose issues and implement changes that prevent recurrence.

Requirements

• 2+ years of industry experience as a software engineer.
• Strong coding and problem-solving skills, including experience contributing to solutions for complex, high-traffic applications.
• Some understanding of scalable distributed systems and willingness to build proficiency with Node.js, Rust, PostgreSQL, and Terraform.
• Ownership mindset and initiative to build and fix systems.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to partner with teammates and managers and execute priorities.
• Willingness to participate in on-call processes and quickly diagnose and resolve issues.
• Alignment with values focused on empowering others, team and user success, transparency, and acknowledging mistakes and failures.
• Authorization to work in the United States and availability to work Eastern Time.
