Software Engineer (Node/Rust)

Location: Remote within the United States for candidates authorized to work in the U.S.; Eastern Time collaboration. Hiring is available across most U.S. states, excluding AK, AL, AR, DE, HI, ID, IA, KS, KY, LA, ME, MT, NE, NH, NM, ND, OK, RI, SC, SD, VT, WV, and WY. Relocation to New York City is supported, with a preference for commuting distance to the Manhattan office.

Salary: $145,000–$187,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Contribute to infrastructure that scales applications of varying size and complexity.
• Improve backend performance, reliability, efficiency, capacity management, and data-tier scalability.
• Build observability capabilities, implement SLOs, and surface system performance characteristics.
• Develop core backbone services, workflow-engine infrastructure, data-tier capabilities, and high-volume ingest and export workflows.
• Build foundational tools for next-generation cloud infrastructure.
• Participate in triage and on-call rotations to diagnose issues and prevent recurrence.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of industry experience as a software engineer.
• Strong coding and problem-solving skills, including experience contributing to solutions for complex, high-traffic applications.
• Understanding of scalable distributed systems and willingness to develop proficiency with Node.js, Rust, PostgreSQL, and Terraform.
• Ownership mindset, initiative, strong communication, and ability to execute priorities collaboratively.
• Willingness to participate in on-call processes.
• Authorization to work in the United States and ability to work Eastern Time hours are required.
