KIPP Columbus is a public charter school serving students from kindergarten through twelfth grade as part of the national KIPP network of college-preparatory schools.

What you will do

  • Teach core academic and social-emotional learning curricula to students with low-incidence disabilities in a specialized learning classroom.
  • Implement individualized education programs and provide small-group or one-on-one specially designed instruction.
  • Adapt and differentiate curriculum, use Universal Design for Learning strategies, and support accommodations in general and special education settings.
  • Implement behavioral intervention plans, positive behavior supports, de-escalation techniques, and crisis intervention strategies.
  • Assess academic and behavioral progress, collect data, and maintain IEP progress documentation and reports.
  • Collaborate with students, families, teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers in IEP and multidisciplinary meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Current Ohio Special Education Intervention Specialist License, or the ability to pursue certification before the start date through an approved pathway.
  • Ability to demonstrate content knowledge across all core academic subjects.
  • Knowledge of Ohio’s Extended Learning Standards and experience with IEPs, ETR meetings, progress monitoring, reporting, and data collection.
  • Experience collaborating with paraprofessionals and using SameGoal for special education documentation.
  • Strong written and oral communication, problem-solving, flexibility, perseverance, and ability to work in a fast-moving environment.
