Principal Consultant (Healthcare Operational & Financial Improvement)

Location: Hybrid, based in London Victoria or Manchester, United Kingdom; office or client-site attendance required at least 2 days per week, with some assignments requiring up to 5 days per week on a client site.

What you will do

• Lead large-scale NHS transformation programmes across Trusts, Integrated Care Systems, provider collaboratives, and national bodies.
• Deliver operational and financial productivity improvements, including Cost Improvement Programmes and efficiency portfolios.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior NHS stakeholders at executive and Board level.
• Translate analysis into actionable change and ensure measurable benefits are realised and sustained.
• Lead, coach, and provide quality assurance for multidisciplinary project teams.
• Navigate complex stakeholder environments, competing priorities, and system-wide transformation challenges.

Requirements

• Experience leading measurable operational and financial improvement within NHS organisations.
• Experience delivering large-scale Cost Improvement and Productivity programmes in a consulting environment, with evidence of realised benefits.
• Extensive knowledge of the UK healthcare system, including Trusts, Integrated Care Systems, and/or central bodies such as DHSC or NHS England.
• Experience with digital enablement, workforce and capacity optimisation, care model design, governance, and operational performance improvement.
• Strong consulting fundamentals, including structured problem solving, clear storytelling, workshop facilitation, and stakeholder management.
• Applicants must be British citizens or have been continuously resident in the UK for the past 5 years to meet potential security-clearance requirements.
