TL;DR
Health Finance Consultant (Healthcare): Managing and implementing complex state healthcare, Medicaid financing, reimbursement, and public-sector programs with an accent on regulatory analysis, financial oversight, stakeholder coordination, and operational improvement. Focus on translating federal and state requirements into implementation strategies, developing financial models and client deliverables, and coordinating multi-stakeholder initiatives.

Location: United States; office setting or remote work environment. Some travel is required for client meetings, conferences, stakeholder engagement, and project activities.

Salary: $70,100–$85,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Develop expertise in EMS, fire services, Medicaid financing, reimbursement programs, and public-sector consulting operations.
  • Analyze federal and state laws, regulations, policies, and reimbursement methodologies.
  • Manage or support complex state healthcare programs, grant-funded initiatives, provider payment programs, and healthcare financing operations.
  • Lead implementation, operational oversight, continuous improvement, risk management, and sustainability activities.
  • Coordinate state agencies, healthcare providers, managed care organizations, community partners, associations, consultants, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop proposals, research, financial analyses, data analyses, financial models, reports, presentations, and other client-facing deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or five years of experience required; a master’s degree in public administration or a government-focused MBA is preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in public-sector consulting, healthcare financing, Medicaid, reimbursement, state program management, financial analysis, or related fields.
  • Strong project management, organizational, analytical, and time-management skills, including the ability to manage timelines, budgets, datasets, and quality requirements.
  • Knowledge of state and local government service delivery systems, federal regulation, reimbursement methodologies, and program requirements.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent business writing, presentation, facilitation, client service, relationship-management, and stakeholder-engagement skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience managing client-facing projects and developing technical deliverables.
  • Experience leading or supporting state, regional, or multi-stakeholder healthcare programs.
  • Experience working with state agencies, provider organizations, associations, local governments, or other public-sector stakeholders.
  • Master’s degree in public administration or a government-focused MBA.
