Senior Data Scientist (NLP/LLM)

Location: Home Office in Hoboken, New Jersey, United States

Salary: $108,000–$216,000 annual base salary, plus performance bonuses and potential stock compensation.

What you will do

• Source relevant data across multiple business domains and ensure its quality and analytical suitability.
• Develop, test, validate, tune, and deploy statistical and machine learning models for complex business problems.
• Support Walmart's e-commerce search backend by applying data science, natural language processing, and large language modeling.
• Design scalable data pipelines and workflows for production model deployment and ongoing analytics.
• Translate stakeholder requirements into data-driven solutions and communicate findings through visualizations and presentations.
• Mentor junior team members and promote data science and analytics best practices.

Requirements

• Experience in data science, machine learning, statistical methods, and production deployment of analytical models.
• Proficiency in Python and data visualization tools including Matplotlib, Plotly, and Tableau.
• Strong knowledge of data pipelines, data quality standards, and data governance.
• Expertise in model assessment, validation, and tuning using advanced statistical techniques.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus 3 years of analytics experience; master's degree plus 1 year; or 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with natural language processing and large language modeling applications.

Nice to have

• Experience with Spark, Scala, R, or open-source frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.
• Background in optimization models or a master's degree in machine learning, computer science, information technology, operations research, statistics, applied mathematics, or econometrics.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility practices.
