What you will do

• Support the end-to-end grid connection process for UK battery energy storage projects, from early development through construction and final compliance.
• Analyse connection options, costs, programme impacts, reinforcement requirements, curtailment studies, and Grid Connection Offers.
• Coordinate power system studies, modelling, grid compliance reports, and compliance test results for BESS assets.
• Manage interfaces with DNOs, Transmission Owners, NGESO/NESO, Ofgem, contractors, suppliers, and technical consultants.
• Support electrical system design, grid integration, due diligence, and grid connection activities for global offshore wind projects and joint venture partners.
• Monitor grid policy and strategic planning developments, including Grid Connection Reform, REMA, tCSNP, SSEP, FES, and CP2030.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• 5–7 years of experience in the power generation, distribution, or transmission industry.
• Experience completing grid connection and compliance processes for renewable energy assets, with strong knowledge of UK DNO connections and the UK distribution and transmission system.
• Experience with power system analysis and RMS/EMT studies, including load flow, short circuit, harmonic, flicker, insulation coordination, and G99/Grid Code compliance.
• Ability to review consultant-delivered power system analysis reports, models, and FAT/SAT test results, and identify issues in asset modelling and control systems.
• Advanced project management, negotiation, communication, contract administration, and legal skills.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with BESS OEMs and balance-of-plant contractors.
• Experience developing and executing large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Experience performing power system studies in-house using RMS and EMT tools.
