Lead Electrical Engineer - Nuclear (Power Systems): Leading electrical engineering teams and delivering power system designs for nuclear and safety-critical infrastructure projects with an accent on grid integration, protection and control, and compliance with nuclear and functional safety standards. Focus on designing international grid interconnections, reviewing vendor deliverables, coordinating verification and validation, and supporting commissioning and system testing.
Location: Derby, Manchester or Warrington, United Kingdom; on-site 3 days per week with flexible working arrangements.

What you will do
- Lead electrical engineers across multiple concurrent nuclear, energy and safety-critical projects.
- Own electrical engineering deliverables and act as the technical authority for design, grid interfaces and power system integration.
- Direct the design of generation, transmission and distribution interfaces, including single-line diagrams and electrical architecture.
- Oversee protection and control philosophies, grid code compliance studies, interconnection agreements, load-flow, fault-level and stability studies.
- Review vendor submissions and engineering packages, chair technical reviews and support hazard assessments and design verification.
- Provide technical expertise from concept through commissioning, including V&V, Factory Acceptance Testing, integration testing and system validation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
- 7–14 years of electrical engineering experience, including leadership of engineering teams or workstreams.
- Significant experience in power systems or nuclear, energy and other safety-critical sectors.
- Strong knowledge of power systems, protection philosophy, grid code compliance and international grid interconnections.
- Knowledge of system lifecycle activities, including verification and validation, commissioning and maintenance, plus relevant standards such as IEC 61508, IEC 61513 or IEC 61226.
- BPSS security clearance is required or must be obtained during onboarding.
Nice to have
- Czech language skills.
- Experience with Eastern European grid links or electrical and nuclear power plants in former Soviet Union countries.
- Experience on large infrastructure projects with high safety requirements.
- Chartered Engineer status or progress toward it.
