ESL Teacher

Location: Newark, New Jersey, USA; requires travel between Newark campuses

Compensation: $60,000–$85,000 per year

What you will do

• Provide in-class support and small-group instruction to K–12 ESL students.
• Support content teachers with sheltered instruction strategies.
• Implement curricula and activities aligned with WIDA English language development standards.
• Administer WIDA assessments and follow ESSA requirements for ESL identification, instruction, assessment, and exiting services.
• Participate in IEP meetings for English Learners and collaborate with special education coordinators, teachers, and regional leaders.
• Engage students and families while maintaining a structured learning environment and supporting academic and language acquisition goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of two years of teaching experience in an urban public school or charter school setting preferred.
• Valid New Jersey English as a Second Language State Certification is highly preferred.
• New Jersey teaching candidates must meet the applicable cumulative GPA requirement: 2.75 for graduates before September 1, 2016, or 3.0 for graduates on or after that date.
• Demonstrated classroom achievement, flexibility, self-motivation, teamwork, and commitment to the organization’s educational philosophy.
