What you will do

• Teach an interdisciplinary, NGSS-aligned middle school science curriculum covering Earth and climate systems, the cosmos, matter and energy, electricity and magnetism, and molecular and ecological systems.
• Develop students’ skills in questioning, modeling, explanation, data analysis, argumentation, and planning and conducting interactive laboratory work.
• Analyze student work samples and assessments weekly with the principal and/or instructional coach.
• Differentiate instruction to support learners with diverse academic needs.
• Build positive relationships with students and families and coordinate resources supporting student learning.
• Collaborate with grade-level teams through professional development, mentoring, coaching, and school-wide meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university before starting employment.
• Academic expertise in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
• Commitment to supporting students’ social-emotional and academic development.
• Interest in impacting K–12 students in urban schools and communities; 1–2 years of experience is preferred.
• Eligibility for New Jersey state certification requirements, including the applicable minimum undergraduate or graduate GPA.
• Instructional staff must obtain New Jersey certification within a reasonable period after beginning employment.

Nice to have

• 1–2 years of experience working with K–12 students in urban schools or communities.
• Experience collaborating with internal and external partners and implementing feedback to improve outcomes.
