TL;DR

Location: Generally based in Denver, Colorado, and across the Western United States region; the initially identified work site is Denver Federal Center, PO Box 25007, Denver, CO 80225-0007. The work site is subject to change and may involve remote work.

What you will do

  • Provide technical expertise on dam operations, spillways, outlet works, and dam safety.
  • Develop and review training materials covering dam fundamentals, inspection techniques, and maintenance best practices.
  • Translate dam operations and maintenance principles into practical classroom modules and field-practicum checklists.
  • Ensure technical accuracy and alignment with Department of the Interior Safety of Dams standards.
  • Lead whiteboard sessions and operator question-and-answer discussions during training modules.
  • Review site-specific appendices, contribute to instrumentation overviews, mentor junior staff, and perform technical QA/QC of slides and workbooks.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of civil or water-resources engineering experience focused on dams, canals, or reservoirs.
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering required; master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer license required, with the ability to obtain reciprocity.
  • Experience with federal dam owners or operators, consulting, DOI Safety of Dams frameworks, and technical training or facilitation.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and hydrology, outlet and spillway operations, inspection documentation, drawing reading, redlining, technical writing, and public speaking.
  • U.S. citizenship is required. An active Secret clearance with eligibility for Interim TS/SCI or a full TS/SCI clearance is required at proposal submission and must be maintained.
