Project Manager (BESS)

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end delivery of utility-scale BESS projects through construction, commissioning, energisation, and handover to Asset Management.
• Act as Client Representative under EPC and BoP contracts and manage EPC, BESS OEM, ICP, and subcontractor performance.
• Coordinate civil, electrical BoP, HV, BESS integrator, grid connection, SCADA, communications, and cybersecurity interfaces.
• Control programme, cost, quality, contractual compliance, risks, critical path recovery, and contractor claims or variations.
• Oversee technical design compliance, grid code requirements, FAT/SAT witnessing, performance testing, and contractual guarantees.
• Produce monthly programme, commercial, risk, HSE, and decision reports while contributing to BESS delivery governance and standards.

Requirements

• UK-based with existing right to work in the UK.
• 5–10 years of experience delivering utility-scale energy infrastructure.
• Direct experience with BESS projects, HV substations from 33kV to 132kV+, grid-connected assets, and electrical BoP or OEM integration.
• Experience administering EPC contracts and working under UK CDM Regulations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong commercial, programme management, risk management, analytical, communication, and contractor-management skills.

Nice to have

• APM PMQ, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management qualification.
• SMSTS or equivalent construction qualification.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant QHSE or environmental management systems software.
