Communications Electronics Installation Technician (FAA/NAS): Installing and integrating FAA National Airspace System communications facilities across the United States with an accent on VHF/UHF radios, cabling, grounding, antennas, and infrastructure buildout. Focus on testing and troubleshooting communication systems, generating FAA documentation, coordinating frequency outages, and solving installation challenges in geographically isolated field environments.
Location: Ontario, California, United States; 100% travel across the United States
Salary: $20.00–$49.00 per hour, W-2

What you will do
- Install, configure, align, test, and troubleshoot VHF and UHF ground-to-air radio and communication systems.
- Integrate Radio Control Equipment, commercial telecommunications, RCL, field cable, and fiber-optic connections.
- Install antennas, radio racks, cable trays, conduit, coaxial cabling, grounding systems, surge protection, and basic electrical connections.
- Remove legacy equipment, install Government Furnished Equipment, and perform baseline electronic readings.
- Generate FAA documentation, including FRDF, and coordinate testing procedures and frequency outages.
- Interface with FAA Air Traffic and Technical Operations personnel while supporting installation and construction crews in the field.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Ability to obtain a federal security clearance is required.
- Associate’s degree or a two-year technical training or certification program in a relevant field, plus at least two years of relevant experience.
- Experience installing and maintaining VHF and UHF ground-to-air communication equipment and familiarity with FAA NAS communications systems.
- Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and electrical wiring diagrams and generate required FAA documentation, including FRDF.
- Valid driver’s license, ability to travel continuously, work non-standard hours, climb above 60 feet, and lift up to 75 pounds.
Nice to have
- Experience with spectrum analyzers, time-domain reflectometers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, microwave systems, voice switches, or air traffic control systems.
- Commercial Driver’s License, trailer experience, or heavy equipment operating experience.
