What you will do

• Teach middle school history using an in-house curriculum covering diverse histories, including Indigenous peoples, African Americans, women, and ancient cultures.
• Facilitate student-led discussions, peer debate, evidence-based opinions, and analytical writing.
• Develop students’ skills in sourcing, argumentation, corroboration, inquiry, historiography, and primary and secondary source analysis.
• Analyze student work samples and assessments weekly with the principal or instructional coach and differentiate instruction for diverse learners.
• Build positive relationships with students and families to support academic and social-emotional development.
• Collaborate with grade-level teams and participate in professional development, coaching, mentorship, and school-wide meetings.

Requirements

• Commitment to supporting students’ social-emotional and academic development.
• Interest in impacting K–12 students in urban schools and communities; 1–2 years of experience is preferred.
• Academic expertise in Education, History, Geography, Political Science, Criminal Justice, Social Sciences, or the Humanities.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required before employment begins.
• Must meet New Jersey state certification eligibility requirements, including the applicable minimum cumulative GPA.
• Instructional staff must become certified in New Jersey within a reasonable period after starting employment.
