Hardware Engineer (Digital & Analog Circuit Design – AC Mains Systems)

Base salary: $90,000–$150,000 per year

What you will do

• Design digital and analog circuits for mixed-signal embedded systems powered by 120/230VAC mains.
• Develop offline AC-DC power conversion, switching regulators, rectification, filtering, surge protection, inrush limiting, EMI filtering, and isolation circuitry.
• Design power supply subsystems, protection circuits, analog front ends, sensor signal conditioning, and microcontroller interfaces.
• Develop and review PCB layouts with high-voltage isolation barriers, creepage and clearance requirements, EMI/EMC mitigation, signal integrity, and grounding strategies.
• Perform SPICE simulations, worst-case and tolerance analysis, hardware validation, compliance testing, and laboratory debugging.
• Support certification testing, DFM/DFT reviews, manufacturing ramp, and product development from concept through production.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in digital and analog hardware design, including hands-on AC mains circuit design.
• Experience with offline AC-DC power supplies, switching regulators, high-voltage safety, isolation techniques, creepage and clearance, and EMI/EMC design.
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools such as Altium, OrCAD, Cadence, or KiCad.
• Proficiency with SPICE-based simulation tools and strong hands-on laboratory debugging skills.
• Working knowledge of UL, IEC, CE, FCC, and other regulatory and safety standards for mains-powered equipment.

Nice to have

• Power factor correction, surge immunity, ESD, thermal design, and power dissipation analysis experience.
• Participation in UL/IEC certification processes.
• Knowledge of embedded firmware interaction and system-level integration.
• Experience supporting products from prototype through mass production.
