TL;DR
Embedded Electrical Engineer (Aerospace): Designing, prototyping, and testing PCBs and firmware for flight hardware and ground support systems with an accent on extreme-environment operation, low weight, and low power consumption. Focus on debugging deployed hardware through real-time telemetry, validating electrical systems under harsh conditions, and coordinating PCBA manufacturing for R&D and production.

Location: Redwood Shores, California, United States. In-person attendance is required.

Salary: $120,000–$200,000 per year, adjusted based on background and experience.

hirify.global designs, manufactures, and operates smart weather balloons that collect atmospheric data for weather intelligence and climate adaptation.

What you will do

  • Design, prototype, and test PCBs for flight and ground support systems.
  • Develop firmware for board bring-up and custom testing of existing hardware.
  • Troubleshoot critical hardware issues and support deployed flight hardware through real-time telemetry.
  • Perform bench and environmental testing of electrical systems across extreme operating conditions.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers to integrate electronics into balloon vehicles.
  • Coordinate PCBA manufacturing for R&D and production.

Requirements

  • Strong fundamentals in embedded circuit and system design.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting circuit boards and electronic assemblies.
  • Ability to read schematics and datasheets.
  • Familiarity with embedded firmware development in C/C++ and communication protocols including SPI, I2C, and UART.
  • Experience with PCB layout and design tools, particularly Altium.
  • Comfort using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Interest in RF system development and antenna design.
  • Deep knowledge of power management circuit design.
  • Ability to hand-solder 0402 components.
