Military Family Life Counselor

Location: Dover AFB, Delaware, United States; candidates must be local to the military base or willing to relocate to become local.

Salary: $59,922–$100,280 per year, with actual pay dependent on location, skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors.

What you will do

• Provide non-medical, short-term, solution-focused counseling to children and youth of military service members.
• Conduct assessments, brief counseling, action planning, referrals, follow-up, and consultation with parents and child development personnel.
• Support child development centers, youth programs, summer camps, and other assigned installation locations.
• Deliver training, health and wellness presentations, and participate in health fairs and installation activities.
• Build relationships with community resources and installation Points of Contact to coordinate appropriate services.
• Manage duty-to-warn and restricted-reporting situations, respond to critical incidents, and document counselor activity while maintaining confidentiality.

Requirements

• Master’s degree from an accredited graduate program in a mental health-related field.
• Current unrestricted independent license as an LCSW, LMFT, LPCMH, psychologist, or equivalent independently licensed behavioral health clinician.
• At least two years of post-license clinical experience, including experience with children and youth and knowledge of child and adolescent development or psychology.
• Proof of United States citizenship and fluent English are required.
• Ability to work across indoor and outdoor military installation environments, respond to urgent situations, and meet site-specific immunization or vaccination requirements when applicable.
• Required clearances and checks include CNACI, Installation Records Check, criminal history and FBI fingerprint checks; a valid U.S. state driver’s license is also required unless waived.
