APU Process Engineer - Automation (APU 4) (Automation)

Location: Vernon Hills, Illinois, United States; onsite work in an office and clean manufacturing environment

Salary: $90,000–$120,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Develop automation concepts and prepare accurate quotes for injection molding, assembly, testing, and packaging programs.
• Manage procurement, design, build, acceptance, installation, and validation of automated systems.
• Implement low- and high-volume assembly automation systems using synchronous, asynchronous, and continuous-motion platforms.
• Coordinate with Sales, customers, equipment suppliers, Manufacturing, and Program Management.
• Manage automation project budgets and timelines and support Lean and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Prepare SOPs, train Manufacturing personnel, and support production during ramp-up.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• Knowledge of machine design, CAD software, and modern machine controls.
• Ability to perform validation activities across DQ, FAT, IQ, OQ, SAT, and PQ phases.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States; the position is subject to federal US work-eligibility requirements.
• Ability to work in an office and clean manufacturing environment with moderate noise and required PPE and cleanroom apparel.

Nice to have

• Experience managing automation projects or designing and building automation equipment.
• Experience with ultrasonic welding, leak testing, and machine vision.
• Experience with pneumatics, cam-operated systems, servo motors, and robotics.
• Experience with assembly, testing, and packaging of medical and pharmaceutical devices.
