What you will do

  • Operate friction cranes, material handlers, conveyors, barge loader equipment, and other terminal machinery.
  • Load and unload cargo from vessels, trucks, and rail cars, including grain, coal, steel coils, salt, and other terminal goods.
  • Train, mentor, and coach crane operators and terminal associates on safe and effective equipment operation.
  • Evaluate operator competency, support onboarding, and provide constructive technical feedback.
  • Inspect equipment, troubleshoot operational issues, document maintenance needs, and maintain inspection and operating records.
  • Manage cargo organization and inventory while maintaining clean, safe, and compliant dock, warehouse, and storage areas.

Requirements

  • 4–5 years of experience as a crane operator.
  • Proven experience operating friction cranes and material handlers, preferably in a river terminal or maritime environment.
  • Strong knowledge of crane-operation safety regulations and best practices.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly, climb ladders over 20 feet using fall protection, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
