Open Pit Electrician

Location: Residential onsite role at Macraes Mine in East Otago, New Zealand; 7 days on / 7 days off, 7:00am–7:00pm dayshift roster.

What you will do

• Maintain, repair, and improve electrical equipment across the open pit and general mine site.
• Diagnose and rectify electrical faults during unscheduled downtime and power outages to maximize plant availability.
• Maintain and fault-find high-voltage infrastructure, including substations, switchgear, power reticulation, trailing cables, and mobile plant.
• Repair and maintain lighting plants, generators, and dewatering equipment.
• Document completed work and equipment modifications for historical records.
• Follow safety meetings, Job Safety Analyses, Stop and Think processes, and equipment-specific SOPs.

Requirements

• Formal electrical trade qualification.
• Current registration with the Electrical Workers Registration Board.
• Current First Aid Certificate.
• Full and current driver licence; ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred.
• Current New Zealand work rights or visa required.
