TL;DR
Electrical Technicians (Industrial Manufacturing): Maintaining and repairing electrical systems, automated manufacturing equipment, and utilities across Fonterra’s Kapuni and Whareroa sites with an accent on fault finding, plant reliability, and operational safety. Focus on troubleshooting PLC, HMI, and SCADA-controlled equipment, responding to breakdowns, and delivering preventative maintenance and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.

Location: On-site at hirify.global manufacturing sites in Taranaki, New Zealand; opportunities available at Kapuni and Whareroa.

What you will do

  • Carry out electrical maintenance, fault finding, breakdown response, and preventative maintenance across manufacturing and utilities equipment.
  • Identify and resolve issues in automated manufacturing systems to support plant reliability, safety, and performance.
  • Work with industrial control systems including HMI, PLCs, and SCADA.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that improve equipment reliability, plant performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with the maintenance team to deliver safe and reliable site operations.

Requirements

  • NZ Registered Electrician with a current practising licence and a Certificate in Electrical Engineering Level 4 or higher.
  • Proven industrial electrical experience, ideally in FMCG, manufacturing, dairy, food processing, energy, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills, including experience with automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Commitment to health, safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • For Kapuni: Electrical Service Technician Certification and instrumentation qualification or proven industrial instrumentation experience.
  • For Whareroa: Industrial electrical experience within a manufacturing environment.

Nice to have

  • Instrumentation experience or qualifications.
  • Experience with preventative and predictive maintenance programmes.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience in a highly automated manufacturing environment.
