Associate Manager, Hardware Test Engineering

Location: South Jordan, Utah, USA; in-office four days per week. Relocation assistance is available within the United States. Candidates currently living outside the United States are not being considered.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and support a small hardware quality test team while contributing hands-on to technical work.
• Develop, execute, and review hardware test plans for new and existing products based on requirements, specifications, and customer use cases.
• Plan and prioritize lab activities, testing, data collection, troubleshooting, reporting, and documentation.
• Develop repeatable test procedures, fixtures, jigs, and data collection methods for thermal, humidity, vibration, shock, drop, HALT/HASS, accelerated aging, durability, and reliability testing.
• Perform failure analysis and root-cause investigations using 8D, fishbone, 5-Why, and related methods.
• Communicate quality risks and product-readiness recommendations to Engineering, Product, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, Operations, and contract manufacturing teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Six or more years of hands-on experience in hardware testing, quality engineering, reliability testing, manufacturing quality, or a related field.
• Previous experience leading, mentoring, training, or supervising engineers, testers, technicians, or lab personnel.
• Experience developing and executing hardware test plans, analyzing test data, troubleshooting failures, and preparing technical reports.
• Strong mechanical problem-solving, interpersonal, written, and spoken English communication skills.
• Able to lift up to 70 lbs and travel internationally up to 20% of the time, including to manufacturing locations such as Malaysia and China.

Nice to have

• Player-coach leadership, project management, and people management experience.
• Experience with manufacturing quality, supplier or contract manufacturer quality, IPQC, inspections, audits, APQP, DFMEA, and PFMEA.
• Knowledge of GR&R, Cp/Cpk, SPC, DOE, correlation analysis, t-tests, confidence intervals, and Minitab.
• Experience with GD&T, CAD, mechanical design, rapid prototyping, machining, electronics, thermodynamics, FEA/CFD, or microcontroller programming.
• ASQ certification or another relevant quality certification.
