Product Engineer - Manufacturing Operations (Data Center Hardware)

Location: Remote-friendly within the United States; staff are expected to be in an Anthropic office at least 25% of the time, with up to 50% travel to partner factories in the US and abroad.

Annual salary: $320,000–$405,000 USD

What you will do

• Own data center hardware products at contract manufacturers and ODM partners from early builds through mass production.
• Audit assembly and test processes, set yield targets, confirm test coverage, and approve production transitions.
• Scale manufacturing across multiple lines, sites, and manufacturers without yield or throughput regressions.
• Lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions for manufacturing and field failures.
• Drive engineering changes across manufacturers, including BOM and PLM updates, validation, partner training, and field-failure monitoring.
• Bring manufacturing requirements and validation data into development phase reviews.

Requirements

• Experience carrying a hardware product from early builds through mass production at a contract manufacturer or ODM.
• Experience improving assembly and test processes and driving yield, quality, and schedule commitments.
• Practical expertise with DFM, FMEA, SPC, 8D, root-cause analysis, and product-specific test planning.
• Clear communication with partner engineers, factory operations staff, and leadership.
• Willingness to travel to partner sites up to 50% of the time.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Materials Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Technical leadership of server, storage, switch, rack, or accelerator data center hardware programs.
• Experience establishing a new manufacturing line or site or introducing a second contract manufacturer.
• Experience with liquid-cooled or high-power-density rack systems.
• Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Experience with component qualification and multi-sourcing strategies.
