Staff Test Engineer (Hardware Testing)

Location: Dallas, TX, United States; on-site. Ability and willingness to travel up to 30% between testing sites.

What you will do

• Build test methods, fixtures, benches, procedures, plans, and cases for electrical and mechanical hardware.
• Verify and validate hardware requirements against functional, performance, and reliability criteria.
• Conduct testing, analyze data, troubleshoot failures, and perform root cause analysis at bench and vehicle level.
• Develop corrective actions and collaborate with hardware engineering and cross-functional teams on design countermeasures.
• Support design reviews and FMEA meetings to incorporate testability, lessons learned, and best practices.
• Develop processes for commissioning autonomous vehicles and implement RMA and RCA processes for field-replaced hardware.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in validation, verification, and reliability test development in consumer electronics, automotive, aerospace, or a related industry.
• Deep understanding of robotics and automotive systems, including embedded computing, wiring, dynamic systems and controls, sensors, actuators, and mechanical and software systems.
• Experience building and operating mechanical and electrical hardware testing tools, processes, and facilities from scratch.
• Experience implementing and conducting formal RMA and RCA processes, using issue-tracking tools such as Jira, and writing technical documentation.
• Experience with Linux, LabVIEW, MATLAB, Git, Python, Bash/Shell, GSuite, Slack, AWS, and CAN tools; strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with technical drawings, CAD, and documentation of mechatronics systems.
• Experience interviewing, onboarding, training, and ramping up additional team members.
