Head of Strategic Procurement

Location: Primarily based at Brisbane South (Nathan), Australia, with work across other university locations as required; on-campus and work-from-home options are available. Full unrestricted Australian work rights are required.

What you will do

• Lead the university's procurement function and deliver efficient, value-focused services aligned with strategic and operational priorities.
• Develop procurement strategies, category management approaches, and contract management practices.
• Strengthen procurement governance, risk management, compliance, assurance, and probity frameworks.
• Provide commercial, procurement, and governance advice to senior leaders and stakeholders.
• Manage the procurement pipeline and build effective supplier and stakeholder relationships.
• Lead and develop a high-performing procurement team while promoting innovation, digital enablement, ethical sourcing, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Extensive leadership experience in strategic procurement, sourcing, contract management, and supplier governance within complex organisations.
• Experience leading a centre-led procurement function and delivering measurable value and strong stakeholder outcomes.
• Strong commercial acumen and the ability to use data and insights in strategic decision-making.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing, negotiation, and complex commercial management skills.
• Knowledge of procurement governance, risk, compliance, probity, contract management, and responsible procurement.
• Full unrestricted Australian work rights are required; visa sponsorship is not available. A National criminal history check may apply.
