Vice President of Land Management (Renewable Energy)

Location: Charlottesville, Virginia, USA; primarily headquarters-based, with remote work potentially considered for the ideal candidate

Compensation: Base salary and bonus commensurate with experience.

What you will do

• Develop and execute land management strategies supporting short- and long-term renewable energy development goals.
• Oversee site control, leases, easements, purchase agreements, title review, curative activities, and ALTA survey reviews.
• Coordinate with development, legal, title, and consulting teams to resolve complex land issues and support financing and acquisition due diligence.
• Manage lease administration, land payments, compliance tracking, databases, GIS systems, and project records.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the land management organization while establishing goals and performance metrics.
• Improve organizational efficiency, data integrity, audit readiness, and portfolio scalability through Lean practices and new technology.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in energy management, urban planning, environmental science, real estate development, law, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of progressive experience in land management or renewable energy development.
• 7+ years of leadership experience managing teams and complex project portfolios.
• Strong knowledge of leasing, title, survey, and land administration practices.
• Experience with utility-scale wind, solar, transmission, BESS, or other energy infrastructure projects.
• Experience with GIS, land management software, title management systems, payment forecasting, and financial modeling.

Nice to have

• Exposure to Lean process improvement.
• Experience using AI platforms such as Claude or OpenAI.
