Project Engineer (Energy)

Location: United States — Utah — Salt Lake City area; remote/hybrid project site position with required travel.

What you will do

• Investigate customer sites and collect energy performance data for mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and control systems.
• Support conceptual and detailed engineering design, bid documents, drawings, specifications, and construction-phase documentation.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, Notices to Proceed, project changes, status reporting, and client coordination.
• Evaluate subcontractor bids and equipment proposals for performance, pricing, and warranty value.
• Develop commissioning approaches and provide engineering support across proposal, development, construction, commissioning, and operations.
• Coordinate engineering disciplines and subcontractors to deliver compliant, high-quality projects on schedule and within budget.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
• At least five years of experience in engineering, construction, or project management.
• Understanding of energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies, including boilers, chillers, building automation, HVAC, building envelope, PV solar, and water/steam distribution systems.
• Construction-phase project development experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong verbal, written, and technical presentation skills.
• Valid driver’s license in good standing and ability to review confidential US security information.

Nice to have

• Experience with energy savings performance contracts or utility energy service contracts.
• Experience with solar PV, battery energy storage systems, cogeneration, microgrids, and power systems.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
