Superintendent — Technical Services (Open Pit Mining)

Location: Residential role in Macraes, Otago, New Zealand. Monday–Friday, 9-day fortnight roster. A valid New Zealand working visa is required.

What you will do

• Lead short- and medium-term open pit mine planning, designs, schedules, and planning governance.
• Manage and develop the Technical Services team through coaching, mentoring, performance management, and succession planning.
• Ensure mining activities, statutory systems, survey controls, and operational processes meet safety, compliance, accuracy, and reliability requirements.
• Oversee fleet management systems and implement technologies that improve safety, productivity, and operational performance.
• Monitor budgets, forecasts, Life of Mine plans, open pit costs, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Manage contractor, vendor, stakeholder, and service supply relationships in line with contract frameworks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mine engineering or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of open pit mining experience, including significant technical experience.
• Experience managing teams and building workforce capability.
• Demonstrated contractor and commercial management experience.
• Strong knowledge of mining software, fleet management principles, and data management.
• Valid New Zealand working visa required.

Nice to have

• Postgraduate diploma in business or management.
• Experience delivering continuous improvement projects and benchmarking open pit performance.
