MFLC Assignment Ready Counselor (ARC)

Location: Key West, Florida, United States; onsite assignments at NAS Key West and other military installation or related worksite locations.

What you will do

• Provide non-medical, short-term, solution-focused counseling to adults, children, and youth of military service members.
• Conduct assessments, brief counseling, action planning, referrals, follow-up, and consultation with families, schools, childcare centers, youth programs, and installation personnel.
• Deliver training and health and wellness presentations and participate in health fairs and other installation activities.
• Support short-term, surge, on-demand, summer camp, post-deployment, and backfill assignments, including assignments lasting from a weekend to two weeks.
• Respond to critical incidents and special requests, including duty-to-warn and restricted-reporting situations, in accordance with DoD protocols.
• Record counselor activity data daily through a smartphone or web application while maintaining service-member and family-member confidentiality and anonymity.

Requirements

• Master’s degree from an accredited graduate program in behavioral health, mental health, or social work.
• Current independent licensure as a behavioral health clinician, mental health counselor, therapist, social worker, LPC, or equivalent license meeting applicable state, Commonwealth, or customer requirements.
• Ability to prove United States citizenship and fluent English.
• Clinical work experience and advanced knowledge of brief therapy and solution-focused counseling methods.
• Willingness to accept assignments with short notice, undefined duration, weekends, and varying work locations and site-specific military installation requirements.
• Ability to work independently, quickly build rapport, respond to emergent situations, and work across indoor, outdoor, school, and military-base environments.

Nice to have

• Prior military service, military-family experience, or strong familiarity with military culture.
• For CYB assignments, experience with children and youth and specialization in child and adolescent development or psychology.
• School-setting experience for counselors assigned to DoDEA or community schools.

• This is a Service Contract Act-covered position; pay rate and health-and-welfare allowance are determined by the applicable wage determination agreement.
• Confidential counseling services are delivered in collaboration with installation and military-branch points of contact.
