Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Robotics)

Cellular Origins develops the Constellation platform, which uses robotics and automation to improve the scalability, reliability, and efficiency of cell therapy manufacturing.

What you will do

• Own the detailed mechanical design of critical modules for a robotic manufacturing platform.
• Develop concepts and prototypes into stable, manufacturable designs with consistent performance.
• Perform tolerance analyses and apply FEA, motor calculations, and other analytical techniques to improve designs.
• Select materials, manufacturing methods, and components for precision electromechanical devices.
• Work hands-on with prototypes and hardware to validate designs and identify risks early.
• Collaborate with mechanical, robotics, software, systems, and biology engineers on system-level challenges.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a science-based degree combined with strong relevant industrial experience.
• Hands-on experience designing precision devices across scales from tens of microns to tens of millimetres.
• Experience developing complex electromechanical products and delivering them into manufacture.
• Experience working in cross-functional or cross-disciplinary teams.
• Strong 3D CAD skills, ideally using SolidWorks.
• Deep knowledge of material selection, manufacturing processes, tolerance analysis, FEA, and motor calculations.

Nice to have

• Experience in regulated industries, particularly design for GMP.
• Experience preparing documentation for product release in regulatory environments.
