Senior Mechanical/Thermal Engineer

What you will do

• Own thermal architecture and design for complex, high-power electronic systems.
• Perform CFD and analytical thermal modelling, manage thermal budgets, and complete worst-case analyses.
• Develop and optimise forced-air, conduction, and hybrid cooling solutions.
• Design thermal and mechanical hardware, including heatsinks, frames, cold plates, and enclosures.
• Correlate simulations with physical test data, define validation plans, and support instrumentation and testing.
• Act as a thermal engineering subject matter expert, contribute to design reviews, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Significant experience in thermal design for electronics or high-power systems.
• Strong understanding of heat transfer and experience with conduction- and air-cooled systems in constrained environments.
• Strong proficiency with CFD tools, including SolidWorks Flow Simulation.
• Hands-on mechanical design experience with strong SolidWorks and CAD capabilities.
• Experience designing production thermal/mechanical assemblies, including tolerancing, interfaces, manufacturability, and build constraints.
• Ability to own designs from concept through production and understand manufacturing processes and lifecycle considerations.

Nice to have

• Experience with ruggedised or high-reliability systems in defence, aerospace, or industrial environments.
• Knowledge of environmental or industry standards.
• Experience with heat pipes, vapour chambers, liquid cooling, or high-heat-flux systems.
• Exposure to coupled thermal-structural FEA and early concept or bid work.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a related discipline; Chartered status or progress toward it.
